Mary married John RUSSEL, son of William RUSSELL Farmer in Newarthill, Lanarkshire DNA linked and Elizabeth RUSSALL (DNA Linked), on 21 February 1865 in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (John RUSSEL was born on 26 March 1790 in Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland ^{2 5 6 7}, baptised in April 1790 in Shottsburn, Shotts parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland ⁷ and died on 4 August 1871 in Old Stone Row, Calderbank, Old Monkland parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland ².). The cause of his death was cardiac disease over several months.

The marriage was celebrated according to the forms of the United Presbyterian Church, the minister being Robert Walker. The witnesses were William White and Margaret Russell.

John Russell was recorded as a widower of 50 years of age. He was an engine worker living at Calderbank Works in the parish of Old Monkland. Both of his parents were dceased.

Mary McNee, who made her mark, was recorded as an unmarried woman aged 40 years who was a 'house manager'. She too lived at Calderbank Works and her parents were deceased.
