The 1891 census recorded Duncan Jackson, aged 34 years, a confectioner, living as a head of a household at 326 High Street Perth. The household consisted of himself, his wife Elizabeth, aged 34 years, and their children Georgina, 6 years, William, 6 years, Ella, 2 years, and Jeannie, 3 months. Duncan was born in Airdrie Lanarkshire. His wife, and children William and Ella, had been born in England, the others in Perth.

In the 1901 census the family were living in Coatbridge, at 182 Bank Street:
