Three days before his death, on 30 December 1725, Sir Patrick Strachan of Glenkindie nominated some Tutors, or guardians, and Curators, to protect the affairs of his young daughter and another expected child. Alexander Innes, along with his brother, John of Edingight, was one of these. He was the brother in law of Patrick Strachan.

Alexander Innes was selected in the will of Alexander Strachan of Glenkindy as one of the 'overseers' of Janet Strachan and her children after Alexander Strachan's decease.

"Interred here Alexander Innes of Rosieburn, Provost of Banff, died the 16th April, 1761, aged 60. Thomas Innes of Rosieburn, his son, died the 24th August, 1784, aged 35. Katharine Abercromby, spouse to Alexander Innes of Rosieburn, and mother to Thomas Innes, died the 8th of October, 1784, aged 76. Helen Innes, daughter of Provost Alexander Innes, who died at Banff 21st March, 1829, aged 91 years, is also interred here."

Alexander married Katharine ABERCROMBY, daughter of Alexander ABERCROMBY 3rd of Glasshaugh, MP for Banffshire and Helen MELDRUM, on 26 November 1729 in Fordyce parish, Banffshire, Scotland.1 (Katharine ABERCROMBY was born in 1708 4 5, baptised on 9 May 1708 in Fordyce parish, Banffshire, Scotland,3 died in 1784 in Banff parish, Banffshire, Scotland 4 5 7 and was buried on 8 October 1784 in Banff parish, Banffshire, Scotland 4.)
