"Forbes, The Rev Robert MA

Bishop of Ross and Caithness, he was born in 1708, son of Charles Forbes, schoolmaster of Rayne, Aberdeenshire, and his wife, Marjory Wright. Took no part in the Rising since he was incarcerated the whole time, but the memorials he has left form one of the chief sources of the personal history of the Jacobites. He married (1) Agnes Gairey, in 1749 who died a few months later and (2) Rachel Houston of Johnstone, Renfrew."
