DAUGHTERS

A Genealogical History of the Wisharts of Pittarrow by David Wishart (1914) does not record Margaret Wishart's marriage into the Arbuthnott family.

Of James Wishart of Pitarrow it states:

"He died in June, 1491, leaving a son John (17) and a daughter Marjory (19). The latter married Gilbert Middleton of that ilk (20). In the 'Acta Auditorum' of 1493, there is a decree respecting her dowry."

Whereas, it is generally held now that Marjory Wishart, who married Gilbert Middleton, was the daughter of John Wishart, son of James Wishart who died in 1491, and that Margaret who married Robert Arbuthnott was the daughter of James Wishart, and therefor sister of John Wishart. 4

Margaret married Robert ARBUTHNOTT 12th of that Ilk, son of David ARBUTHNOTT 11th of that Ilk and Elizabeth DURHAM, before 5 August 1468.1 2 (Robert ARBUTHNOTT 12th of that Ilk was born about 1452 and died before 11 January 1506 1.)
