GORDON, Cosmo of Fyvie
(About 1809-1879) |
GORDON, Cosmo of Fyvie 1
Another name for Cosmo was GORDON, William Cosmo.2 General Notes: Cosmo's ultimate heir was his father's first cousin Sir Maurice Duff-Gordon, known to be spendthrift. Cosmo intended therefore to disinherit him, and caused legal papers to be drawn up. However Cosmo died before this intention was fully carried out. He died on the threshold of his bank in Aberdeen, where he was going to sign the papers before witnesses. Sir Maurice did inherit Fyvie, got into debt, and put the castle and its 10000 acre estate on the market in 1885. 1 |
