  General Notes:

Only Robert's mother's name, Elizabeth Robertson, was noted in his birth certificate, registered under the surname of Robertson.

In 1891 Robert, aged 26 years, and Catherine Clark, aged 25 years, were living with their 2 year old daughter Catherine at 50 James Street Calton, in the Barony parish of Glasgow. All had been born in Glasgow. Robert worked as a slater.

Robert Clark was a journeyman slater when his daughter Catherine was born in 1889 and when son Patrick was born in 1895.

The 1901 census recorded Robert and Catherine Clark with their two sons Patrick and Thomas living at 15 Struthers Street, Calton Glasgow. Robert was a slater by trade, aged 35 years, and had been born in Glasgow, as had the other members of the family. Catherine was also recorded as 35 years old; the boys were 5 years old and 1 year old respectively.

The 1911 Census recorded Robert Clark as head of a a household living at 21 Sydney Street, Camlachie, Glasgow with his wife Catherine and their family. Robert and Catherine had been married 26 years, and they had had ten children of which four were still alive. Robert Clark was aged 45 years and was a slater. His wife Catherine was 44 years old and a laundress. The other family members were:

Bella aged 16 years, Hawker
Patrick aged 12 years, at school

Robert married Catherine COOK, daughter of William COOK and Mary Ann DUNN, on 10 April 1884 in 30 James Street, Mile-End, Camlachie, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Catherine COOK was born on 20 September 1865 in Parkers Court, 104 King Street, Calton, Glasgow, Scotland 1 5 6.)


  Marriage Notes:

The details of the marriage certificate for this couple record that they were married by Crosby, Pastor of Universalists Church, Watson Street, Glasgow, and the witnesses were William Murray and Helen Gilfillan.

Robert Clark was a journeyman slater aged 20 years. His father was deceased. Catherine Cook was 19 years old and a yard winder. Usual residence was 30 James Street Glasgow.
