Patrick Grant, born about 1746, son of Patrick G. of Glenmore in Rothiemurchus; missionary at Fort William about 1772; adm. 24th Sept, 1778 ; died 21st Jan. 1809. He marr. 20th July 1784, Beatrix (born 2nd Sept. 1761, died at Nairn, 20th Feb. 1845), daugh. of Niel Campbell of Duntroon, and had issue Georgina Neil Campbell, died unmarr. 21st July 1810; Matilda Campbell, died unmarr. 2nd Feb. 1838; Ann Trapaud (marr. Major John Grant of Auchterblair), and was mother of Sir Patrick G., Field-Marshal; Captain George William Trapaud, Bengal Horse Artillery, died in India. Following her husband's death, Mrs G. established a boarding academy at Inverness, which was accidentally destroyed by fire in Jan. 1819. She was authoress of Sketches of Intellectual Education and Hints on Domestic Economy, 2 vols. (Inverness, 1812), and Popular Model (Edinburgh, 1816). "Patrick Grant, mentioned in 1778 as a son of Glenmore, and as itinerant at Fort-William. He was presented by Sir James Grant to, and became minister of the parish of Duthil. He had a lease of Tullochgorm, where he died in 1809, and was buried at Duthil. He married Beatrice, eldest daughter of Neil Campbell of Duntroon, Argyllshire, and had issue, one son and three daughters."
