David married Mary GORDON, daughter of Alexander GORDON 12th Earl of Sutherland and Jane GORDON, 21 February 1597(1598(contract).1 (Mary GORDON was born on 14 August 1582,1 died in 1605 and was buried in 1605 in Dornoch, Sutherland, Scotland 3.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Mary born 14 August 1582. She must have been affianced in infancy to David Ross, as a liferent charter by George Ross of Balnagown, his father, in her favour was confirmed 3 March 1584-85. She was married (contract dated 21 February 1597-98) to David Ross of Balnagown, and died in 1605, without issue."

"David, eleventh of Balnagown. Sas. 1st May 1606. on charter by George Ross to David his son and apparent heir of Culcarne and other lands. Heir of his father in the lands of Wester Ferne. Downie, Ranylome, Meikle Rany. Pitkerie and others. 8th September 1615 (Retours). He died 20th November 1632, buried at Ferne, having married first - contract preserved at Dunrobin dated 7th and 8th July 1584 - Lady Mary Gordon, second daughter of Alexander. Earl of Sutherland, 'a vertuous and comely lady of ane excellent and quick witt' (Sir R. Gordon); she died s. p. at Overskibo in 1605, aet. 22, buried at Dornoch. By the aforesaid marriage contract it was also settled that should there be a failure of an heir-male to Balnagown, then John, Master of Sutherland, should marry Jean, eldest daughter of George (Ross)."

David next married Catherine MURRAY, daughter of Sir John MURRAY Earl of Tullibardine and Catherine DRUMMOND, 6 January 1606(1607)(charter).2 3 (Catherine MURRAY was born about 1583.)
