General Notes:
" I cannot resist the temptation of quoting from a letter of Miss Evelyn Grant:
'Robert Grant of the North West Company was my grandfather…. I have a copy of the marriage certificate of his parents, who were David Grant, only son of Donald Grant of Easter Lethendry, and Margaret, third daughter of Robert Grant of Wester Lethendry - they were married in 1749. These two Lethendrys are about a mile apart just above the village of Cromdale in Strathspey… I am the last of his descendants, and indeed of the whole Lethendy family. His younger brother Cuthbert was also in Canada. He had no brother Charles... it seems probable that he[Charles Grant] and my grandfather were friends out there and…… connected through the Glenbeg connection…. Glenbeg is near Grantown, a most lovely little glen, but there is nothing there now but a modern farmhouse - though a group of very old hardwood trees indicate where the old home must have been - as in those parts trees only grew around houses. I do not know if there are any descendents of the Glenbeg family left."
