"James Grant, born Ross-shire, 27th April 1756, nephew of preceding; educated at King's College, Aberdeen; M.A. (28th March 1771); licen. by Presb. of Tain 7th Aug. 1776; 'privately ordained' by Presb. of Abernethy 16th Jan., called 9th April, and adm. (assistant and successor) 13th May 1777; was some time chaplain to the First or Strathtay Fencibles; died at Elgin 15th Oct. 1798. He marr. 4th Oct. 1794, Alexandrina (died 15th July 1823), third daugh. of Lewis Grant, min. of Cromdale, and had issue William Forsyth, medical practitioner, born 13th Aug. 1795, died in Jamaica 2nd Aug. 1834; Robina Clark, born 8th Dec. 1796, died 5th Jan. 1823.
