The Old Parish register of Rhynie parish recorded "James Gordon in Old Merdrum" as one of the witnesses at the baptism, on 4 December 1773, of his granddaughter Janet, daughter of his daughter Janet and her husband George Gordon in Bogencloch. ⁸

James married Helen GRANT of Speyside before 17 May 1742.¹ (Helen GRANT of Speyside was born about 1720.)
