GORDON, William Writer to the Signet 1

  • Baptised: 28 October 1763, Saint Paul's Episcopal parish, Aberdeen, Scotland 2
  • Died: 10 February 1824, Rothney, Insch, Aberdeesnhire 1

  General Notes:

ROTHNEY

"Two distinct branches of the Gordons held Rothney. John Gordon of Buckie's son, Alexander, got Rothney, and had a son, John. There was a George Gordon of Rothney in 1604. Then George Gordon of Sheelagreen bought Rothney and gave it to his second son, William, who had a son, George. The latter had a son, William, Writer to the Signet, who died at Rothney in 1824, apparently without issue."
