"Adam Fergusson born 4th Aug. 1672, third child of Laurence F., Bridge-end of Garnock,near Faskally, and Janet Ferguson ; educated at parish school of Moulin and Univ. of St Andrews ; M.A. (22nd July 1693); schoolmaster of Moulin ; licen. by Presb. of Kincardine O'Neil 24th July 1700; ord. to Crathie 25th Sept. 1700; pres. by John, Duke of Atholl, in June, trans, and adm. 22nd Nov. 1714; died 30th July 1754. He was the original mover of the resolution in the Synod of Oct. 1732 against Ebenezer Erskine for expressions in his Synod Sermon which led to the secession from the Church in 1733. He marr. 25th Dec. 1705, Mary, daugh. of Patrick Gordon of Hallhead, Aberdeenshire, and had issue -
