Adam married Elizabeth SUTHERLAND 10th Countess of Sutherland, daughter of John SUTHERLAND 8th Earl of Sutherland and Daughter MACDONALD, in 1500.1 (Elizabeth SUTHERLAND 10th Countess of Sutherland was born about 1473, died in September 1535 in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 1 and was buried in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 1.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Adam, second son, first named in his brother's contract of marriage of 14 October 1474, which shows that even at that early date their marriage was arranged. He married, but at what date is not certain, Elizabeth, daughter and eventual heiress of John, eighth Earl of Sutherland, and in her right he became Earl
of Sutherland."

"Adam of Aboyne, who married the heiress of the Sutherland family, and Adam's daughter, Lady Helenor, married a George Gordon of Auchmalidy, apparently of the Auchmenzie family (see Rec. of Aboyne, p. 212), and got Tilphoudie for her portion, and her brother John, who resided at Tilphoudie, had a daughter who became the wife of George Gordon of Coclarachie. (See Rec. of Aboyne, p. 42.)"
