Note: This formula was used for the baptismal records of two other children of William Hardie, Peter and William, born in 1821 and 1827 respectively.

The 1841 census for Methlick in Aberdeenshire recorded Jean Hardie living with her father and his second wife at Auchencrieve. She was aged 15 years, and was born in Aberdeenshire.

Jean was not recorded in the family entry in Methlick in the 1851 census.

When Jane Sinclair died in 1899 in Nigg, her death certificate recorded her as a "pauper widow of James Sinclair crofter". Her recorded age was 73 years. Both of her parents were noted as deceased. 3

  Medical Notes:

The causes of death were certified by Thomas A. Skene MD CM.

The informant was Jane's grandson, John McGachie, who had been present were her death occurred. He gave notice before the registrar, Andrew Barnett, at Nigg on 25 December 1899. 2


Jean married James SINCLAIR on 5 June 1845 in Methlick parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 (James SINCLAIR was baptised on 25 April 1825 in Ordiquihill parish, Banffshire, Scotland 7 and died in 1893 in Belhelvie parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 3.)
