"In the next place followes to speake of Mr. John Forbes, brother to Alexr. Forbes, Laird of Pitsligo.

Mr. John Forbes married Agnes Gray, daughter to the Laird Boyndlie, of Muchel, and relict of the Laird of Meldrum, who bear to him Andrew Forbes, who dyed wt'out succession, Alexr. Forbes of Boyndly, John Forbes of Largie, w't. diverss daughters; one married Tillihilt Gordon, ane oy'r. on Cairngall Arbuthnot : he had also a base son, called James Forbes, whose bairns bear witnes themselves."
