"Of the sons the eldest was Sir Robert Lauder, Knight of Popill ; the second, John, of Beil ; third, James, Dean of Restairig ; the fourth, George, an advocate, afterwards Laird of Bass ; then came Alexander and William, Arthur of Scuney, and Patrick of Gervat." (page 182)
In his last will and testament, dated at Beill on the 9th November 1575, Sir Robert Lauder of the Bass made various provisions, among which:
"... he leaves to Margaret Lauder, daughter to the late Alexander Lauder, his brother, 300 merks, and to Walter Lauder, her brother (Notary Public), ; £100, and 'to each of the five bairns of John Lauder, his late son, £40.' To his natural son, Henry Lauder, £200." (page 187) from The grange of St Giles
