Robert married Margaret HAY, daughter of John HAY 4th Lord Hay of Yester, Sheriff of Peebles and Margaret LIVINGSTON, 11 February 1566(1567)(contract).¹ (Margaret HAY was born about 1545 and died before 20 February 1583(1584) ¹.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Margaret (Hay), married, contract 11 February 1566-67, to Sir Robert Lauder of Poppill. She survived him, and died before 20 February 1583-84, when her testament was confirmed at Edinburgh. Douglas confuses her with Margaret, daughter of the fifth Lord, who married the seventh Lord Borthwick."
