"Charles Congalton of that Ilk, b. about 1675 and to whom the lands of Congalton were conveyed on the succession of his elder brother to those of Keith. He m. on 10 January 1702, to Jean, daughter of Sir John Lauder of Fountainhall, (she died at Congalton, in August 1751), and d. at Congalton, on Saturday 23 January 1742, aged 67 years."
