LESLIE, Alexander 'of Balquhain', lawyer in Edinburgh 1
User ID: A924. General Notes: "It would appear that John Leslie had another son, probably a natural one, who had two sons, one a lawyer in Edinburgh in 1652, named Alexander, and the other, William, who was a bailie in Edinburgh. These two, in letters written by William, thirteenth Baron of Balquhain, and his successor, Alexander, fourteenth baron, are called the nephews of the said barons." Alexander married Jean MORTIMER, daughter of James MORTIMER apparent of Craigievar and Margaret GORDON.1 (Jean MORTIMER was born about 1590.) Marriage Notes: "...and that the said Rachell Lesly is lawfull daughter of the deceast William Lesly, merchant in Aberdeen, procreat betwixt him and Isobell Burnet, his spous; and that the said William Lesly wes lawfull son of the deceast William Lesly, son to Alexr Lesly of Balquhyne, procreat betwixt him and Jean Mortimer, his spous, daughter to Rodger Mortimer of Craigievar..." |
