In The Huntly Express in 1910 J.M.Bulloch wrote: "TOLDOW (Glenmuick):

Alexander Gordon of Toldow was murdered along with John Gordon, Baron of Braichlie, in 1592.

John Gordon was tenant in Toldow in 1600, paying yearly in maill £26.13s.4d. and as casten 'tua lange careagie and with tua hors.' (Spalding Club Miscellany, ii., 911.)"

'tua lange careagie and with tua hors' is possibly a Scots version of "two long (or large?) carriages and with two horses". 2
