OGILVY, Jean 1Another name for Jean was OGILVIE, Jane.2 User ID: F790. Jean married Alexander GRANT of Corrimony, son of John GRANT 5th of Corrimony and Mary KEITH, in 1740.1 2 (Alexander GRANT of Corrimony was born about 1716 2 and died in 1797 in Nairn, Nairnshire, Scotland 2.) Marriage Notes: "Alexander Grant of Corriemony, who, on 17th April 1727, was retoured heir-general to his father John Grant of Corriemony. He was wounded in the Rebellion of 1745, and was concealed for some weeks in a cave at Corriemony waterfall. In 1764 he was engaged in a dispute with James Grant of Sheuglie, about their right to certain mosses, and in 1771 he received a charter of the lands of Mulderies from Sir James Grant of Grant. He married Jane, daughter of Ogilvie of Kempcairn, and had issue thirteen children, several of whom died in infancy. He died at Nairn in May or July 1797, in the eighty-first year of his age." |
