HAITLIE, Jean 1
General Notes: 'The Theodore Gordon MS. says he married "Jean Hartlie." The 1670 MS. calls her "Haitlie. " Both surnames seem quite unknown in Aberdeenshire: so he may have found the lady in London. She was dead by January 31, 1695, when General Patrick Gordon entered in his diary the words- I condoled with my uncle [name not given, but indexed as James] on the death of his wife, and thanked him for not Jean married James GORDON in Westertoun of Auchleuchries, 'London James', son of Patrick GORDON 2nd of Nethermuir and Katherine LUMSDEN. (James GORDON in Westertoun of Auchleuchries, 'London James' was born about 1617.) |
