ANDERSON, Alexander Professor of Mathematics at Paris 1General Notes: Alexander Anderson, uncle of Janet Gregory, was a leading mathematician of his time. He was a pupil of the father of symbolic algebra, Viete, or Vieta. He acted as his editor, and expounded Viete's trigonometry, later incorporating Viete's ideas into his own thought. |
