  General Notes:

(referring to Archibald John Anderson 'Deacon Anderson' and his parents):

"The Deacon's father, a Scotch Episcopalian, was received into the church by the Rev. David Burnet and the Deacon himself tells us in Historical Notes collected by Bishop Cameron, that his mother was a sister of Bishop Nicolson, Archibald was the second of three sons."

  Research Notes:

AGE

The youngest daughter of Thomas Nicolson and Elizabeth Abercrombie recorded in the St Nicholas Parish baptismal records is Jeane, baptised in 1649.

Archibald Anderson is generally considered to have been born in the mid 1690s. He is said to have spent ten years in Paris where he was ordained deacon, returning to Scotland sometime after that in August 1718. If this is so, it is unlikely that his mother was born as early as 1649. That being so, his mother, sister of Bishop Thomas Nicolson, is included here as another younger sister whose baptism record has yet to be uncovered, or is not extant. Since the family were Scottish Episcopalian in religious affilation, it may be that the troubles of King Charles I in the 1640s civil wars, followed by his execution in 1649, were influential in the places and times of the baptisms of the family's children who were born in the 1640s and 1650s.

Daughter married James ANDERSON in Myln of Tynet, son of James ANDERSON of Auchinreath and Unknown. (James ANDERSON in Myln of Tynet was born about 1667 and was buried on 19 February 1737 in Rathven parish, Banffshire, Scotland 2.)
