"24 June 1695 The said day James Strachan and Janat Hay were contracted. Robert Whyte plasterer caur. for the man and Alexr. Pyper caur. for the woman. They were both ordained to produce ther testificats tymeously of ther removing the scandall committed formerly by them otherwayes ther proclamations would be stopt"


"15 July 1695 The said day it being reported that James Strachan and Janat Hay hade produced ther testimoniall orders ther marriage to be set about with ther conveniencie but continues the stop as to John Duncan"


Note

John Duncan was a dragoon under Captain Strachan who had also been required by the Session on 24 June 1695 to produce a testificate from his place of residence affirming that he was single and without scandal.<
