The William Gordon entered in the above list was evidently William Gordon of Dalmore who was in Croughly and died 1725, and was ancestor of many distinguished officers in the Army; his grandfather, William Gordon of Dalmore was in occupation of Croughly at the time of the battle of Corrichie 1562. (Family History The Croughly Book pp. 57-58.) His name is in 'the Remission for Corrichie 1567' as 'William Gordon in Crwichlie'." 1
