"26 APRIL 1749 JAMES REID Skipper, WILLIAM MURRAY, WILLIAM REIDS, Father & Son, WILLIAM & WILLIAM GEDDES'S father and Son & JOHN REID alias lith having been drowned at Speymouth about ten or eleven aclock at night the 24th were all buryed this day in their own burial places. Also CHARLES GORDON postmaster in Fochabers and WILLIAM GORDON Son to James Gordon Merchant in Garmouth were drowned with them, the boat being Load with prohibited Goods."
