General Notes: This man may be the son of Andrew Brebner, burgess of Aberdeen, who had lands alienated to him by way of feu by William Gordon, the last Pre-Reformation Bishop of Aberdeen. The elder Andrew Brebner was feuer or vassal of South Spittal and Wester Peter, "afterwards distinguished by the name of Froghall".(Annals of Aberdeen) 2 Androw married Elspet GORDON, daughter of James GORDON in Nether Buckie and Unknown, After 9 January 1647(bond).1 (Elspet GORDON was born about 1632.) Marriage Notes: "1647, January 9. Bond for 300 merks by William Gordone of Aradoull (William Gordone in Lownen cautioner) to Androw Brebner, younger in Garmothe, and Elspet Gordone, his appeirand spous, lawll, dochter to umqll. James Gordone in Natherbuky; Boighead, 29 Aug. 1643, befoir thir witnesses, Gilbert Shand in Garmothe, Alexander Gordone in Farnochtie, and Androw Thomsone in Boigbead. The notary signs for William Gordon in Lownen (Elgin Commissary Records)." |
