George Gordon was a land surveyor and farmer. He was a bachelor of 29 years of age, resident at Tullochallum in the parish of Mortlach. His mother was deceased.
Louisa Gordon was a 21 year old spinster resident in Banff, Banffshire. Her mother was deceased.
The marriage was registered on 27 June 1861 at Banff, Robert Leask signing as registrar.
"(v.) Louisa Gordon (by the first marriage) died May 31, 1904. She married George Gordon (1832-1908 (see Note below)), land surveyor, Tullochallum, Mortlach, afterwards of Edinburgh. He belonged to the Gordons in Achnarrow, Inveravon, who had been connected with that farm for generations. About the end of the seventeenth century they moved to the farm of Upper Clochan in the Enzie. Mr Gordon's grandfather, John, succeeded a maternal uncle in the farm of Tullochallum in Mortlach in 1771, where he also had the hill grazings of Culraggie, which extended to the march with Inchnacape at the water-shed between Glenlivet and Tomintoul. Mr Gordon had : -
a. Alexander William Gordon, surveyor, Inverness. He is married to Margaret, daughter of Andrew Macdonald, Sheriff- Clerk, Inverness, and has a son George.
b. Henry Gordon, C.E., South Africa. He is married, and has a son George.
c. Daughter : unmarried."
