William married Ann LEITH, daughter of John LEITH of Whitehaugh and Elizabeth FORBES, in 1706.1 2 (Ann LEITH was born about 1688 and died about 1738 2.)

  Marriage Notes:

"In the north transept of Westminster Abbey is the grave of William Forbes. The stone, in front of Admiral Warren's monument, reads:

'Here lies the body of William Forbes of Tolquhon in the shire of Aberdeen and Kingdom of Scotland, who exchanged this life for a better April the 5th 1728 aged 42. As also the body of Ann his wife, who departed Nov.11 1738 aged 58'.

The arms carved on the stone are quarterly Forbes with Preston of Formantine.
William was the eldest son of Thomas Forbes, advocate of Edinburgh, and nephew and heir of Sir Alexander Forbes. He was ancestor of the Forbes-Leith family. Anne, whom he married in 1706, was the daughter of John Leith of Whitehaugh in Aberdeen and his wife Elizabeth daughter of William, 11th Lord Forbes."

from Westminster Abbey site

"William, the 12th Laird of Tolquhon, succeeded to very little except the empty title. [ ....] He died in London in 1728 and his wife, Anne Leith, ten years later. Both are buried in Westminster Abbey, where a black marble stone with his arms was placed, but has now disappeared. They had two sons, Williarn, who took Holy Orders and became Vicar of Thornbury, but died without issue 1761, and John , who succeeded his grandfather (Leith) and his mother in the estate of Whitehaugh, and assumed the additional name of Leith, becoming Forbes-Leith.

Anne Forbes drew her annuity until the date of her death ; it was apparently a charge on the estate assumed by the purchaser, for two discharges by Anne Leith, Lady Whitehaugh, relict of William Forbes of Tolquhon, of this sum to William, Earl of Aberdeen, for the year 1738 still exist."
