"JOHN REID, born Banffshire, 1743; educated at King s College, Aberdeen; M.A. (2nd April 1764); schoolmaster of Lhanbryd, 1764-6, and of Drainie. 1766-78; licen. by Presb. of Elgin 18th June 1767; ord. (assistant) at St Andrews (Elgin), 13th Aug. 1776; pres. by Sir Alexander Dunbar of Northfield in Aug., and adm. (assistant and successor) 8th Oct. 1778; died 9th Jan. 1803. He marr. (1) 26th Jan. 1779, Rebecca (died (s.p. 15th April 1793), daugh. of Alexander Murray, min. of

John married Rebecca MURRAY, daughter of Reverend Mr Alexander MURRAY Minister of Duffus and Unthank and Isobel GORDON, on 26 January 1779.¹ (Rebecca MURRAY was born on 9 June 1750 ², baptised on 13 June 1750 in Duffus parish, Moray, Scotland ² and died on 15 April 1793 ¹.)
