"George Leslie, only son of John Leslie, sixth Laird of New Leslie, finding that all the family property was spent and gone, went abroad and entered the Society of Jesus. He afterwards returned to Scotland, where he was provincial of the Society of Jesus, and superior of the Scotch missions. He lived thirty years in Scotland, chiefly at Balquhain, under the name of Johnston. He died in 1687, and with him ended the line of the family of Leslie of New Leslie."
