GORDON, George
(About 1555-) |
GORDON, George 1
General Notes: "... married two wives, first Elspet Meldrum Daughter to the goodman of Achenhive, with whom he begat Robert Gordon in Proney, his second wife was Jannet Maitland with whom he begat Six Sons and three daughters, viz, John, William, Peter Merchant in Pole, Mr James Parson in Kinnore etc, married Agnes Barclay daughter to Mr Adam Barcley Minister att Alford, Alexander his fifth son, and Richard his sixth son." 1 Research Notes: The House of Gordon is not altogether clear about the place of George Gordon and Alexander, who may be his father but, if so, there seems to be a missed generation if James Gordon, minister of Kinnoir is George's son. Therefore some clarifying sentence or phrase may have been missed about George. George could be Alexander's son, thus supplying the missing generation: George married Elspet MELDRUM 'of Auchenhuive'. (Elspet MELDRUM 'of Auchenhuive' was born about 1560.) George next married Jannet MAITLAND. (Jannet MAITLAND was born about 1575.) |
