William Tweedlie & his wife Margaret Slater had a daughter baptized at New Galloway by Mr Gillespie named Margaret"

Margaret was not listed in the family entry of the 1841 census. However an entry for a young woman in the age range 15-19 years, named "Margaret Dwedly", may be her. Her birth place is Scotland. She lives, separately but within the same household as Hannah Williams aged 30 years and Edward Williams aged 1 year, in Newsham Street. This location is on the other side of Scotland Road from Wright Street where Margaret's family were living in 1841. Ancestry transcribes her surname as "Dwedy" but the original shows the upward stroke of an "l".

Margaret subsequently left with her husband, after her marriage in 1849, for Australia where she raised a family in Melbourne. ^{2 4 5 6}
