"William Forbes of Tillygreig, born about 1593; son of Patrick F. of Bithnie; educated at King's College, Aberdeen; M.A. (1611); was regent in King's College, 1613-19, and Sub-Principal, 1619-23; adm. here Sept. 1623; dep. by Commission of the General Assembly at Aberdeen, 13th May 1647, for association with George, Marquess of Huntly, and his son Lewis. He marr. (1) Helen Leith : (2) 1643, Elspet, daugh. of James Forbes of Knapernay, and had issue John, served heir 20th July 1653. [Aberdeen Sheriff-Court Records, ii., 511.]"
