(Sir William SCOTT of Kirkurd, younger of Buccleuch was born about 1524 and died by 19 May 1552(dvp) 1.) Marriage Notes: "Sir William Scott of Kirkurd, Knight, younger of Buccleuch, eldest surviving son of Sir Walter Scott by his first wife. He early took part with his father in the Border forays, and was present at the battle of Pinkie. He entered in 1549 into a bond of manrent with Mary of Lorraine, the Queen Regent. He died, vita patris, shortly before 19 May 1552, having married Grisel, second daughter of John Betoun of Creich, sister of Dame Janet Betoun, his father's third wife. She survived him, marrying, secondly, Sir Andrew Murray of Blackbarony.
