"William Moir, (fourth son of John Moir of Stoneywood and Jean Sandilands, a merchant in Aberdeen, bought the estate of Invernettie. There is a charter to William Moir, dated 1708. merchant in Aberdeen of the lands of Invernettie. Mr. Moir was succeeded in this estate by his nephew." (page 140) from Moir Genealogy




"Moir, William, of Invernetty, Peterhead Third son of John Moir, 1st of Stoneywood, born in 1669. Became merchant in Aberdeen. He married Christian Guthrie in 1710, and then Jean, daughter of Colonel Lewis Hay by whom he had two sons, James and William. His Will is in the Commissariot of Aberdeen for 22 Dec 1744."
