This is a speculative placing, but Isobel could well fit in this generation. The silence regarding her father's name may be due, as is not unusual, to the stigma of illegitimacy with regard to church leaders together with a recognition of the 'blood family' she descends from and therefore her status because of that.

Isobel married Magnus MOWAT in Cowie and of Ardo, son of Patrick MOWAT 1st of Balquholly and Margaret CHEYNE.^{1 2} (Magnus MOWAT in Cowie and of Ardo was born about 1548 and died about 1586(1597) ².)

"Magnus Mowat, in Cowie, in Glithno. Magnus was a younger son of Patrick Mowat (the elder) of Balquholly. Died around 1596/97. He married Isobel Hay. She was buried in Aberdeen 2 September 1615."
