Katherine married Archibald DOUGLAS 5th Earl of Angus, 'Bell the Cat', son of George DOUGLAS 4th Earl of Angus, 'Red Douglas' and Isabella SIBBALD, about 1 June 1500.1 The marriage ended in divorced or separated by 1512. (Archibald DOUGLAS 5th Earl of Angus, 'Bell the Cat' was born about 1449 1 and died about November 1513 1.)

"The Earl married, on or about 1 June 1500, Katherine Stirling, daughter of Sir William Stirling of Keir, knight, to whom on that date he granted his lands of the earldom of Angus and lordship of Kirriemuir to her and the heirsmale born of the marriage. At intervals between 1503 and 1510 she is styled in various writs Countess of Angus. Two years later, however, she is designed simply Katherine Stirling, and was either divorced or separated from the Earl .... "

Katherine had a relationship with Alexander HOME 3rd Lord Home, Great Chamberlain of Scotland, son of Alexander HOME 2nd Lord Home and Nichola KER, about 1512.1 (Alexander HOME 3rd Lord Home, Great Chamberlain of Scotland was born about 1487 and died on 8 October 1516 2.). The cause of his death was execution for high treason.


  Marriage Notes:

"The Earl (of Angus) married, on or about 1 June 1500, Katherine Stirling, daughter of Sir William Stirling of Keir, knight .... At intervals between 1503 and 1510 she is styled in various writs Countess of Angus. Two years later, however, she is designed simply Katherine Stirling, and was either divorced or separated from the Earl, as, in consequence of a liaison with Alexander, Lord Home, she became the mother of John Home of Inverallon."
