"Alexander. On 16 August 1617 he had a formal discharge of various sums of money with which he had been intrusted by Sir George Home of Manderston, with whose son, Sir Alexander Home, he had apparently been travelling abroad as tutor during the preceding three years. He was alive in 1626, and is designed in his brother Andrew's testament, recorded 5 June 1627, 13 as ' Mr. Alexander Arbuthnott in Aberdeen.' "
