But they were listed as married in Aberdeen Sheriff's Court documents dated, 4 Feb 1643. They were probably married before 1638, which is the earliest Register of Marriages in Ellon Parish. They were not found in the Register of Marriages 1638-1819.

Marjorie Cheyne (2396) and her husband, John Gordon in Tillidesk (2399) were mentioned in an action in Littlejohn, Records of the Sheriff Court of Aberdeenshire. The entry for the said action reads as follows: 'Febry. 4 (1643). Renunciation and Discharge. In consideration of a payment of 7200 merks, Margaret Donaldsone, wife of John Donaldsone of Hiltoune, renounced in favor of John Gordoune in Tillidesk and Marjorie Cheyne, his wife, all her rights in (1) Caldwalls and Peltachie, &c., in the Barony of Ardgrain and Parish of Ellon, (2) a dwelling house in the town of Ellon, and (3) Todlehills, also in the parish of Ellon'.

There was a sasine in Aberdeenshire dated 20 July 1646 that included Marjorie Cheyne (2396), spouse of John Gordon in Tillidesk.

There was a sasine in Aberdeenshire dated 11 March 1648 that included Marjorie Cheyne (2396), spouse of John Gordon of Cauldwallis.

John Gordon of Coldwells (2399) and his wife, Marjorie Cheyne of Arnage (2396) were mentioned in Tayler, The Valuation of the County of Aberdeen for the Year 1667 . Their entry reads as follows: 'John Gordon of Coldwells. Was the son of James of Kraven, and grandson of David, 1st of Nethermuir, who was of the Haddo family. John married Marjorie Cheyne of Arnage, and had two son, Alexander of Coldwells and John, Bishop of Galloway, in 1688'."
