Farnachty is situated about four miles inland, south of Buckie, in Rathven parish, Banffshire, forming one point of a triangle with Cairnfield House and Letterfourie. ²

James married Daughter GORDON, daughter of Thomas GORDON of Cracullie and Daughter PANTON.¹ (Daughter GORDON was born about 1560.)

Marriage Notes:

"His (Thomas Gordon's) eldest son Alexander [Thomas MS 1644] Gordon married the Laird of Pittmeddens daughter Panton, with whom he begat one daughter who married James Gordon son to Cairnborrow who dwelt in Finnachty."
