  Marriage Notes:

"He (David Drummond) had, along with his wife Margaret Stewart, a charter of Cargill and many other lands in the counties of Perth and Forfar, 5 March 1535-36. He had during his life many confirmations and grants of these and other lands; perhaps the most important charter being one of 25 October 1542 by which certain of his lands were erected into the barony of Drymen, and others into that of Drummond ... " (pages 45 and 46)

"Lord Drummond married, first, as above mentioned, a lady of the name of Margaret Stewart, but her parentage has never been satisfactorily ascertained..... By his first wife Lord Drummond had issue one daughter, 1. Sibylla" (page 46)

David next married Lilias RUTHVEN, daughter of William RUTHVEN 2nd Lord Ruthven and Janet HALIBURTON co-heiress, Baroness Haliburton of Dirleton, suo jure, before 7 December 1543.1 2 (Lilias RUTHVEN was born about 1521, died on 7 July 1579 in Stobhall, Perthshire, Scotland 2 and was buried in 1579 in Innerpefray Church, Perthshire, Scotland 2.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Lilias, married to David, Lord Drummond. She died at Stobhall 7 July 1579, and was buried beside her husband in the kirk of Innerpeffray. Her testament was recorded 28 March 1580. To her Robert Alexander dedicated, in 1539, the Testament of William, Earl of Erroll, in Scottish metre."
