ORIGINS

The Strathdon parish register names George as "George Forbes in Auchernay" in a 1708 marriage to Elizabeth Gordon in Auchendoir, daughter of John Gordon of Knockespock.

The House of Forbes states that George Forbes who married Elizabeth Gordon was the son of Nathaniel Forbes "eldest son by the third marriage of William of Belnabodach." The parish refister of Strathdon has Nathaniel's baptism, indexed as taking place in 1700,

"Octr 4 - Wm forbes of Belnabodach had a son baptized Nathaniel witneses Invernettie Ledmacay and Nathaniel Forbes of Ripachie"

Therefore it does not seem possible that a son of Nathaniel Forbes of Auchernach married that Elizabeth Gordon.

George married Elizabeth GORDON, daughter of John GORDON 6th of Knockespock and Mary GORDON, on 11 June 1708 in Auchindoir and Kearn parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.^{1 2} (Elizabeth GORDON was baptised on 16 July 1683 in Huntly parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland ⁶.)
