William married Elinor DOUGLAS, daughter of Sir James DOUGLAS 2nd Earl of Douglas and Partner UNKNOWN, 8 December 1404(grant).1 2 (Elinor DOUGLAS was born about 1385 2.)

"About 1404 he (Sir William Fraser) married Elinor Douglas, whose parentage is not known ; but on 8 December of that year Isabel de Douglas, Countess of Mar and the Garioch, gave a charter of Tibarty and Utlaw, in the barony of Strathalva, in the sheriffdom of Banff, 'dilecto nostro affini Gulielmo Fraser et Elinore de Duglas sponse sue ... in libero maritagio.' Lord Saltoun is of opinion that she was an illegitimate daughter of James, second Earl of Douglas and Earl of Mar, who was killed at Otterburn in 1388 ; by her he had a son and two daughters ..."

"
