ALLACHIE

From the Gaelic "Aileachaidh", meaning "the glen at the rocky place" or "valley of the rocks".

This area refers to he hills (Braes) and the Glen near Aberlour in Moray, close to the rivers Spey and Fiddich. From the hills in this area there are fine views towards Ben Rinnes. 4 5


Alexander married Margaret GRANT, daughter of Patrick Og GRANT of Easter Elchies (2nd family), JP For Elgin and Forres and Margaret INNES.1 (Margaret GRANT was born about 1610.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Alexander Grant of Allachie. In 1649 he was a commissioner for war for Banffshire, and in 1673 a J. P. for the county of Elgin. He married , daughter of Patrick Ogg, and had issue one son and three daughters."
