In the 1865 marriage certificate of his son, John, Philip Burns was recorded as a shoemaker.

In 1875 Philip Burns was recorded as a Private in the 47th Lancashire Foot Regiment, in the marriage certificate of his son, Thomas.

Philip married Julia CONNER. (Julia CONNER was born about 1820 and died before 13 February 1865.)
