We know next to nothing, as yet, about Patrick Harkin. We have no document that would give us pertinent facts about his birth or baptism, marriage or death. We know his name and occupation from only from the death certificate of his daughter, Margaret, in 1904. Even that may not be accurate.

Margaret Harkin's father was a farmer, according to her death certificate of 1904. He probably lived in County Donegal in Ireland.

Patrick was probably born at the end of the eighteenth century, or at the very start of the nineteenth. His daughter, Margaret, was born about 1830, so we could suppose a birth year between 1790 and 1800 for Patrick, and he may have married in the 1820s. As for his death, we have no reason to pick one date rather than another, except to say some time after 1830. ¹
